GCM (Global Christian Matching) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

By using GCM, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

2. Data We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Account details: email, password, nickname, date of birth, gender
  • Profile information: denomination, occupation, height, marital status, children, smoking habit
  • Interview responses: your conversation with our AI interview agent
  • Photos and optional video
  • Matching preferences: age range, location preferences
  • Chat messages with matched users

Information collected automatically:

  • Location data: country-level location from IP address
  • Device information: browser type, operating system
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, timestamps

Information generated by AI:

  • Profile narrative and “My Beauty” card (generated from your interview)
  • Theology assessment (orthodox / review / flagged)
  • Interview quality score
  • Matching compatibility analysis

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Account & Profile: To create and display your profile to potential matches
  • AI Interview: To verify your faith, generate your profile, and assess community fit
  • Matching: To recommend compatible matches based on your profile, preferences, and AI analysis
  • Safety: To detect and prevent fraud, scams, heretical infiltration, and abuse
  • Location: To filter restricted regions, display your country to matches, and determine pricing tier
  • Communication: To send service notifications, match alerts, and important updates
  • Improvement: To improve our AI agents, matching algorithms, and user experience

4. AI Processing

GCM uses artificial intelligence extensively:

  • Interview Agent: Conducts your faith interview using Anthropic Claude
  • Guardian Agent: Analyzes theological orthodoxy using Anthropic Claude
  • Profile Writer: Generates your profile narrative using Anthropic Claude
  • Matching Agent: Analyzes compatibility using Anthropic Claude
  • Translation: Translates messages using Anthropic Claude

Your data is processed by Anthropic (the AI provider) subject to their privacy policy and data processing agreement.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these cases:

  • With matches: Your profile, photos (after mutual match), and chat messages are visible to matched users
  • AI provider: Interview and profile data is processed by Anthropic
  • Infrastructure: Data is stored on Supabase (database) and Vercel (hosting)
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect safety
  • Public sharing: Your “My Beauty” card is shared publicly only if you choose to use the share feature

6. Location Data

GCM collects your approximate location (country level) from your IP address when you log in.

Purpose:

  • User safety: filtering restricted regions where Christians may face persecution
  • Matching: displaying your current country to potential matches
  • Regional pricing: applying appropriate pricing tier based on signup country

What we collect:

  • Country-level location only (not city, not GPS coordinates)
  • Detected automatically from your IP address via server headers

What we do NOT collect:

  • Precise GPS location
  • Background location tracking
  • Location when the app is closed

How it works:

  • Your current country is updated each time you log in
  • Your country is displayed on your profile to potential matches
  • You cannot manually set or change your location — this is a security measure to protect all users from romance scams
  • Pricing tier is determined by the country at the time of your initial signup and does not change if you relocate

7. Data Retention

  • Active accounts: Data is retained while your account is active
  • Deleted accounts: Data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Rejected accounts: Limited data may be retained to prevent re-registration of banned users
  • Chat messages: Deleted when either party deletes their account or the match is ended

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data (via account deletion in Settings)
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain data processing activities

9. Children's Privacy

GCM is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover that a user is under 18, their account will be immediately terminated and all data deleted.

10. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Row-level security on database access
  • Isolated AI agent sessions (no cross-user data access)
  • Rate limiting and abuse detection

No system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

11. International Users

GCM is a global service. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and Republic of Korea, where our servers and AI providers operate.

For EU/EEA users: We process data based on your consent (provided at registration) and our legitimate interest in providing the Service.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
